I attended Lakeview Schools, then Michigan State University where I was a pole vaulter on the track team. I graduated with a bachelor of arts in Advertising, worked for a while, then continued my education with a bachelor of sciences in Fisheries and Wildlife Management. I moved around a bit and eventually moved to northern California (think Michigan's Upper Peninsula) and met my husband, Justin. Our passions were the outdoors but when it came time to start a family, we realized we should make our passions our hobbies and shift some gears. We moved to Michigan so I could attend law school at Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School in Lansing and to be closer to family.
While in Law School we welcomed our first child and I still managed to graduate in the top 10% of my class. I worked as a Teachers Assistant for Wills and Estates, Tax Law, and Ethics. During school, I also worked for an estate planning firm in East Lansing while studying for the bar exam. I took the exam and began working as a prosecutor before getting my results (it's one of the few jobs that allows you to work before getting exam results). When it came to decide where we would settle down in the mitten state, Big Rapids just made sense. I shifted into a local prosecutor position and left it fairly quickly to work for a firm that specializes in probate and estate planning. When baby number two came, it was clear that it was time to start my own firm.
I chose to specialize in estate planning and probate law because I find it incredibly rewarding to connect with people and protect their loved ones and their assets. There's a great sense of satisfaction in knowing that I've played a role in ensuring a smooth transition for families during difficult times.
Please give me a call or send me an e-mail. I'd love to schedule a consultation to chat about how I might be able to help.
